Yellen says Biden to nominate first Native American as U.S. Treasurer

U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen announced on Tuesday

he will appoint Mohegan Reservation Director Marilyn Marelva as U.S. Treasury Secretary

the first appearance of Native American signatures in U.S. currencies.

Yellen also announces the creation of a new tribal

Treasurer during his visit to the Rosebud Sioux  in South Dakota.

Yellen's signature can also be added to US currency by President Joe Biden
