Tiger at Columbus Zoo dies of complications from COVID-19

Columbus, Ohio — A 14-year-old Amur tiger died  at the Columbus Zoo

Zoo last weekend after developing pneumonia due to the COVID-19 coronavirus.

According to a zoo press release, a tiger named Jupiter died

Jupiter is the first animal to die in the zoo as a result of COVID-19.

Zoo, Jupiter was receiving long-term treatment for an underlying

chronic disease that could easily infect tigers with the coronavirus.

Jupiter's care team remembers him as a big and formidable

interacts with other favorite items-75 pounds difficult for caretakers.
