Top: Gun Maverick becomes Paramount’s highest-grossing film – and Tom Cruise’s first to hit $1,000,000,000

Tom Cruise has a lot to celebrate after Top Gun: Maverick was reported to have earned $ 1.2 billion (£ 1 billion).

The actor, who previously admitted that he wasn’t confident in making the sequel to the iconic 1986 movie, is surely pleased with his performance.

With $ 600 million (£ 500 million) sales in the United States, the movie has the highest sales ever in Paramount, according to Deadline.

This is also Tom’s first movie to reach the dizzying height of $ 1 billion.

Before the movie was so successful, Joseph Kosinski had to convince Tom that it was a good idea to actually make another movie.

Director explains: He said, “You have to propose it directly to Tom.”

He flew to Paris to meet Cruise on the movie set that was filming one of the Mission: Impossible movies. A time frame to persuade the actor to return to Fighter Town.
