Lisandro Martinez: Manchester United agree £57m deal for Ajax defender
Manchester United have signed a five-year deal with Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez at Old Trafford, worth up to £ 57 million.
United has paid € 57 million (£ 48.5 million) guaranteed to the Argentine International Defender and has added € 10 million (£ 8.5 million) as an additional fee agreed between the two clubs. The move will bring Martinez back to Old Trafford with former Ajax manager Erik Ten Hag, who signed the club in 2019.
Still with medical and visa requirements, but with a 5-year contract in Manchester, an additional 12-month option, the contract will be completed within a few days before it lasts beyond the 30th birthday. It’s a schedule.
On Friday night, Martinez posted a photo of herself and her agent on the plane to her Instagram account with the caption “Heading to Manchester.”
Arsenal were also interested in the Argentine national team, but were defeated in pursuit of it. Gunners’ playstyle and Mikel Arteta’s outlook appealed to Martinez, but he chose to move to Old Trafford.
Approximately € 2 million of his
Martinez transfer fee split between his old Argentine-based clubs, Newell’s Old Boys and Defensa Justicia, as part of a standard international transfer solidarity payment.
