Grammy-winning son Declan “Dex” Thornton Roper was arrested early Thursday morning in New York City after police found him sitting in a stolen 2014 Mercedes-Benz C350. Cyndi and Dex personnel did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment. According to the NYPD, police officers noticed the car at about 1:40 am when they were illegally double parked on the corner of West 140th Street and Broadway.




TMZ reported that the car was stolen two years ago and discovered that the license plate was mounted on another car. A 24-year-old boy was detained and charged with illegal vehicle use. He was reportedly released with a ticket to appear on a future court day. Dex, a musician with 2.3 million Instagram followers who worked with G-Eazy before , has been active on social media since its release. He even shared what looks like an arrest video. David Thornton, who married in 1991. The family previously starred together in the reality series Cyndi Lauper: Still So Unusual, which aired on WeTV for a season in 2013. The True Colors artist previously spoke in an interview with the Guardian about the impact of her fame on Dex.
